Greater Good Trouble

Spring has been full of curiosity and wonder for me. After some effort to renew my relationship with winter – learning to appreciate the darkness of a cave that can spawn new life and creativity – I’ve found myself longing for change in a new way. Learning about winter as a crucible or “situation of severe trial, or in which different elements interact, leading to the creation of something new” [Oxford Dictionary] helped me to see and feel that experiencing darkness was required for light to manifest – for Spring growth to emerge.

Sitting still with this longing for change, I see clearly how connected it is (and has always been) to bringing greater care, compassion, and love to the human experience. This is the same longing that led me to volunteer within humanitarian initiatives throughout my career, and what motivates my work at Canon Collaborative today. With great heartache and hope, I imagine a world in which our grounded strength – our liberated power within – can break through unnatural and inhumane designs that exist all around us.

This idea activates the rebel in me – a deep call to make good trouble, inspired by Mr. John Lewis.  This collaborative human (me) wants and needs partners in creating Greater Good Trouble. I am holding a vision of building networks of relationships that are so much greater than the sum of their parts – in which diverse human strengths interact to unleash collective genius and innovation that matter greatly to human life on this planet.

Entrenched resistance in our personal lives (and systems with which we personally interact) can feel like an immovable wall – a dense dam around the movement of our thoughts, feelings, and even actions. What might be on the other side of this personal dam? What might happen if it breaks?

From experience, it can feel scary and uncomfortable. How might the crumbling of the wall cause harm or discomfort to myself or others? What new problems and blocks may be on the other side of this challenge? Am I equipped to navigate this change, this new pathway?

Our Grounding Journey is designed to ground individuals in their natural strength and intuition, which brings the opportunity to navigate resistance and tension (our personal dams) with greater clarity and confidence. To trust yourself deeply as you liberate your innate power to navigate the unknown.
